PERFORMER’S ETIQUETTE
1. Please arrive at least 20 minutes early (by 2:40 PM)
2. Please wear your dressy best. Students should test the modesty of their clothing for bowing/curtseying, as well as sitting and standing.
3. Fingernails should be trimmed (not extending beyond the tip of the finger) and neatly groomed. Please do not come with dirty fingernails, or with chipping fingernail polish.
4. Students with long hair or bangs should pin their hair back so that their faces can be seen while they are performing. The right side of the face will be toward the audience (and the photographer).
5. Performers will sit in assigned seating. Older students may be interspersed amongst the younger students to remind and assist them in sitting quietly and still. If you have younger students, please let them know that they are to follow the example and listen to the advice of the older students near them.
6. There will be a treat given to each person in attendance as you exit the building. Please take the treat home to eat. Do not eat in the building.
7. Applaud for all participants. When you are not performing, you are in the audience and should follow all rules for “Audience Etiquette” (next article).
AUDIENCE ETIQUETTE
1. Show respect to all performers by listening and looking at them.
2. Do not talk or whisper during a performance.
3. Do not make noises with programs, shoes, or anything else.
4. Do not chew gum in the auditorium. You may not have any food or drink in the auditorium, other than water, if required.
5. If an audience member needs to leave the room, do so only in between performances. Do not walk in or out while a student is performing.
6. All guests should plan to attend the entire recital and should not leave after their child has performed unless prior arrangements with the teacher have been made for extenuating circumstances.
7. Applaud for every performer. Shouting and whistling is inappropriate for a formal setting.
8. There will NOT be a nursery provided. It would be best if babysitters were obtained for infants and very small children. The performance will be lengthy.
Keeping these courtesies in mind will help our experience to be a pleasant one for students and guests.
I look forward to sharing this celebration with each student and am anxious to meet each guest. It is my desire to make this a memorable experience for all.
I’m so thankful for each student and his/her family!
Miss Kristi 🙂
